The
nominees for Best Male Group are:
Arashi
B’z
Chemistry
Dragon Ash
Glay
Mr. Children
Road of Major
And
the winner is… Chemistry
Arguably the second most competitive award behind “Best Female” a case
for the best could be made for all of them but behind some last minute
voting the winner became Chemistry. After dropping 4 singles in 2002, 2 of
which hit number 1 the 2nd year group is really making an
impact on the J-Pop world and is revolutionizing J-Pop R&B.
The
nominees for Best Female Group are:
Mini Moni
Morning Musume
Yellow Generation
Zone
And the winner is… Morning Musume
Surprise Surprise here! The gals of Momusu whether 13 members or 11
they’re still the best all girl group by far! You might hate them but
let’s just face it… they’re pretty damn popular! Gambatte Momusu!
The
nominees for Best Music Video are:
Ayumi Hamasaki - Voyage
Dragon Ash - Fantasista
Glay - Way of difference
Morning Musume - Do it! Now
Mr. Children - Kimi Ga Suki
Utada Hikaru - Sakura drops
And the winner is… Ayumi Hamasaki
– Voyage
Ayu has always been known for her creative videos and she continues that
trend this year. Although we should add that Hikki’s “Sakura Drops”
is one video you should not miss! But all in all Ayu takes home this
crown.
The
nominees for Best Male Artist are:
Domoto Tsuyoshi
Gackt
Hirai Ken
Kazumasa Oda
Keisuke Kuwata
And
the winner is… Hirai Ken
Last years defending champ Keisuke Kuwata released one single this year…
fat chance of winning right? The winner by a large margin is Hirai Ken! I
don’t think it was much of a competition this year.
The nominees for Best Female Artist
are:
Ayumi Hamasaki
Hajime
Chitose
Mai Kuraki
Misia
Utada Hikaru
And
the winner is… Utada Hikaru
As we predicted it was a 3 woman race this year and not just 2 but in the
end there is only 1 winner. Nope it isn’t Ayu the defending champ from
last year or the powerful newcomer Hajime Chitose. Who is left? Hikki!
After overselling Ayu by about .2 million and doing that on only 2 singles
Hikki is clearly the winner!
The
nominees for Best Album are:
Ayumi Hamasaki – I Am
Hajime Chitose – Hainumikaze
Mika Nakashima – True
Mr. Children – It’s a Wonderful World
Rip Slyme – Tokyo Classic
Utada Hikaru - Deep River
And the winner is… Utada Hikaru - Deep River
Hikki’s success this year doesn’t just end with 2 awards. She also
takes home the “Best Album” award as well! Whoa, sky’s the limit
with her really! I do own this album and honestly I do have to say that
there isn’t one bad song on it!
The nominees for Best Single are:
Ayumi
Hamasaki - H
Hajime Chitose - Wadatsumi no Ki
Hirai Ken - Ohkina Furudokei
Hitomi Shimatani - Amairo no Kami no Otome
Utada Hikaru – Hikari
Utada Hikaru - Sakura Drops
And the winner is… Utada Hikaru - Sakura Drops
Only 2 singles ever received 5 weeks at number 1 on our charts and that
would be “Sakura Drops” and “H”. We left it up for the fans to
decide this one and so the number 1 single of 2002 was “Sakura Drops”!
Make that 4 awards for Hikki and a very happy Toshiba Emi company!
Again thank you for everyone who helped
on voting and for the usual visitors to our charts. You guys make this all
possible. Feel free to buy any of these songs through our yesasia
links to help support our hard work. Thanks!
